Everyone loves a sweet treat but hates tooth ache so here are our top tips for a tooth trouble-free Easter Break!

  • Try to restrict eating Easter Eggs to mealtimes.  Chewing produces saliva which helps neutralise acid, protect tooth enamel and fight tooth decay.
  • Drink a glass of water after eating sweet treats.  This helps wash away the sugars that cling to teeth and tap water normally has fluoride for tooth protection.
  • Do not succumb to temptation and have one last treat just before bed! Wait at least half an hour after eating sugary foods and brushing teeth, to protect your teeth enamel.
  • And finally, don’t forget to brush your teeth just because it’s the Easter Holidays!  Brush with a fluoride toothpaste twice a day for at least two minutes.

In the event of a dental emergency during the Easter break, please ring your surgery for information on how to access emergency treatment.
