Late Summer Bank Holiday Opening and Dental Emergency Information – August 2024

In England, the Late Summer Bank Holiday is celebrated on the last Monday in August every year.

SpaDental hopes you enjoy your long weekend.

Here is some handy information, however, just in case you are unlucky and have a dental problem.

The NHS advice is to only visit A&E for dental care in ‘serious’ circumstances, such as:

    • severe pain (when self-administered pain relief is inadequate or not possible for medical reasons)
    • heavy bleeding
    • injuries to the face, mouth or teeth.

Ask your pharmacist

If you have dental pain, a pharmacist can recommend non-prescription medicines to help until you can see your dentist. Over the Late Summer Bank Holiday chemists open at different times. It’s worth checking when your regular chemist is open, or finding one nearby that is open.

Book an urgent appointment

SpaDental practices keep time free each day for patients who need urgent care. It’s best to call early to ask about a booking as the places fill up quickly, especially after a weekend or bank holiday.
