Excellent dental care but communication by reception staff could be improved
I have always received exemplary care at SpaDental. Dr Etugo is an excellent dentist and the advice and treatment he provides have dramatically improved my dental health. What a shame that the receptionist’s manner when calling to request payment in advance of my treatment was so abrasive. I explained that I didn’t have the means to pay at the current time (being away from home and not in reach of payment methods). I explained that I had been requested by Dr Etugo to pay at my next appointment because reception were not able to take payments due to staff absence. However, I was accused of being ‘aggressive’, which I was not. I think a little more customer liaison training for reception staff might be beneficial.
Expensive
From what I hear from friends, treatment is very expensive. I have only needed treatment covered by my plan. I have friends who have had trestments fail quickly
My appointment
My appointment was at 1015am but was not seen until 25 mins later at 1040. Not happy about having to wait that long.

Son got treated really bad by the dental surgeon and told to get out by her as well and he has special needs as well
Rushed appointment
First dental appointment in ages. Whole thing was so rushed. They started 10 mins late and basically kicked me out before the appointment ended. Was supposed to get an X-ray as part of my new patient appointment and software wasn’t working and they didn’t have time to reboot it. I now have to have another appointment for this which will cost me more money. Whole thing was so rushed and the only information I came away with was that I needed more appointments.

Rude receptionist
Receptionist was exceptionally rude. Given prescription toothpaste no idea why. No information Given. Asked to pay in advance for future treatment. Would have liked a breakdown of the costs.
Broken tooth repair
Very disappointed to be told you don’t have a Dentist working on a Thursday afternoon.
NHS treatment
I am a single father and really thought I would have got NHS treatment like my daughter as I am not in a position to pay for private treatment.
Staff good but having been a customer for some years the place feels down and in need of a good spruce up.
The CEO of spa needs to sit in the reception and look at surrounding. Then sit in the patient’s chair of each surgery. Take a look at the walls and ceilings.
Then ask how can I justify how much I am asking my patients to pay.
Also I get irritated by the default patient health questionnaires give I am a long standing patient and I get 2 questionnaires even with back to back appointments.
Customer experience have gone south since SPA took over.
Superb Dental Practice
I recently moved to the area and booked in for a check up . [My dentist] and the team are very professional and friendly and I only waited a few minutes before being seen.
The check up was thorough and I was given a detailed explanation of work that needed to be done. The cost of the proposed treatment was fair and I was provided with a comprehensive treatment plan.
I will be contacting the practice to arrange check up appointments for the rest of the family.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this dental practice.
Fairly good
I found the staff warm and helpful, although I was a bit uncertain about the outcome of treatment, and felt that the results could have been explained more clearly afterwards. I am still left with a question having seen my teeth in the mirror outside after treatment. I was given good aftercare advice.
Failure to complete treatment which was pre paid.
Prior to Covid I was advise that I needed my front teeth removed and replaced with a denture.
I paid £250 upfront for the treatment.
The treatment was interrupted by Covid lockdowns, some of my teeth were removed, and despite more still loose, a temporary denture was supplied which I was assured could be modified and more teeth added to it.
Since then I have lost 2 additional teeth and have a further 3 very loose. The denture supplied (approximately October 2021) was not usable due to the additional missing and loose teeth.
I was advised by telephone to arrange a check up with the new private practice at Saltash. The new (to me) dentist at Saltash advised me that the denture supplied to me could not be added to and that I needed 4 extractions and a new denture made. The cost of this treatment is going to be £1522.
Quite frankly I believe this is a scandalous amount for a pensioner to have to pay when I had already paid upfront for this treatment under the NHS.
I understand that now the practice is private Dental treatment is far more expensive than NHS treatment, however I do believe that I had a right for the NHS treatment to be completed and at the very least I should be refunded the £250 NHS fee for treatment which was not satisfactorily completed.
Treatment for infected wisdom tooth
Good service could have had more discussion about on going treatment choices. Ended up going to ED as swelling continued and had difficulty swallowing.
Always helpful
I recently had tooth ache when I called the dentist, reception advised me there were no appointments that day but would speak to the [my dentist]. It wasn’t even 10 minutes after putting down the phone I was called back and asked to come in straight away. [My dentist] managed to squeeze me which I was extremely thankful for as it was a wisdom tooth infection. I was able to get the medication needed. Everyone was extremely helpful as always.
