Tim was born and brought up in South Wales and studied dentistry at the University of Bristol, qualifying as a dentist in 1992. Tim was awarded the Bristol Dental Hospital Certificate of Merit in Oral Medicine in February 1992 and was recognised for his study of complex oral surgery and maxillofacial techniques with Dr Lewis Williamson DDS in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1991. He then worked for 14 years as an Associate in general practice in Bristol before becoming the Principal Dentist at Wotton Dental and Implant-Referral Clinic in April 2006.
In 2014, Tim graduated from the University of Bristol after completing an MSc in Dental Implantology for which he was awarded a distinction. The title of Tim's dissertation was 'An Audit of Patient Understanding and Recall Of Risks and Complications of Dental Implant Treatment Following Written and Verbal Informed Consent'. In December 2015, Tim published his MSc dissertation research as a paper in The Royal College of Surgeons of England Faculty Dental Journal (FDJ).
